Description

If you've seen my gallery, you know it's stocked with a ton of game portraits. Well, this one was the first.

I hadn't used Photoshop for illustration before--heck, I hadn't used anything for illustration for quite some time. There's a little bit more backstory, but I'll just sum it up by saying this one is a favorite of mine.

Pencil drawing, painted using Photoshop.

It's a bit crooked, and the eyes are a bit weird. Your technique is great, as usual. +7

Beautiful coloring - I really like this version of a half elf.

I think I see what Artoonator means about the eyes looking 'crooked' though. It's not the eyes themselves but I think the bright white dot on the hightlight on the inside corner of her left eye that makes it seem that they are a bit askew. Beautiful job, though. Everything just flows so well in this piece.

Thanks Sulariade, but Artoonator is right: her nose is 'broken', her hair is a mess, and her features are a bit strange. I was tempted to go back in and 'correct' things, but I like her better because she has character. Looking back across the 30-odd portraits I did, my favorites all had some deficiency or another. Makes them individual like us, right?

BTW, my nose was broken too...

My nose was broken as well and I totally agree with you. She has a lot of character like this and I really love the cheek bones - very elfish :)

I soooo love your style..that you leave the pencil strokes on the coloring gives it such an individual special touch. And I think the way you did the hair (bet it messy or not) really fits this image..as a matter of fact I think it's a really making this a nice composition

Good, has character. The chin is a bit weak, even taking account of your style, but overall it's very well done.

I love the lighting, I love the border and I love the line work. Cool work

Beautiful. The backlighting on the hair is excellent :)

I like this too :) Her delicate elfin features are nice, overall not quite as clean as your later work, but if I could paint like that the first time I used PS, I'd still be laughing. :p

i really don't care about facial features being so symmetrical b/c no one really is that symmetrical nor do they necessarily have to be in order to be beautiful
in fact, the features don't look crooked to me at all

my only complaint is that the chin seems a bit too small in proportion, the background and the subject don't blend (the symbol above or in back seems too polished in contrast to the subject having a more roughly drawn look) , and that the i'd prefer the subject closer towards the middle... or the bottom extended to show more of her...

Always love the gaming portraits, when they are nicely done as yours.

Really nice as usual, Sporey!

Personally, I think the nose is sexy. Must be a fetish of mine I guess... and those eyes... rroowrr!!!
