Rather ugly critters, these Illithids, but a ton of fun to draw. NPC portrait for Planescape RPG. Pencil original, painted using Photoshop.

By the way, I'm impressed. Great work! You really captured the octopus-ness.
My only problem is that the outfit lacks volume. Nothing else to complain about.

Hmm... Maybe Jie knows something we don't...
I agree about the flatness. All the planescape portraits were cropped close to the head and shoulders. The bodies were often out of frame and worked just enough to get the 'pose' right.
I linked a detail of the eye area.
